Working on this 07 Chevy Tahoe went on a test drive and kept hearing some clunking going over bumps. Lift the car up and saw the right front strut leaking. Didn’t think any of it and started taking it apart to come to my surprise to find out that the top threaded part of the sock was broken and there was nothing to keep the spring loaded. Oops. I had to start taking the entire suspension apart little by little till there was no more pressure on the spring so I can remove it. I took the left side apart to, by my”surprise” find out first the left sock was very close to fail also. Also in this process both strut mounts were damaged and needed to be replaced. I guess you can always recognize ” quality” work at it’s best. And on top of everything just when to put everything back together find our that the brake pads where cracked beyond any imagination. That’s what you call… cheap parts? ???
